acne and weight gain

I have basically been on birth control of one type or another since the birth of my son September 2000. I was very thin and healthy until I was put on birth control and have literally gone from 117 lbs to 173 in 6 years. Almost 30 of that was put on within the first 3 months of the depo shot and it seems that I try different types of birth control and within 3 months have gained 10 lbs. So my doctor has been closely watching this and does think I have a sensitivity to synthetic hormones so she recommended mirena. I had it placed October 12th, 2006 and have gained 8 lbs and now have horrible acne! I have never had a pimple in my life and now my face is scattered with them! Has anyone had to just go back to condoms? And how did that go over with their spouse? I just want my body back to normal...the way it was 6 years ago and see if these side effects go awayand I can have better luck losing all of this weight. Also, does mirena hurt to remove? Let me know and wish me luck!
