This is what I was told when I visited, asking your same question:

Bastyr- With an MD/DO, it will still take 3 years at least. Maybe 3 and a half. You can get credit for many of the basic sciences- anatomy, biochem, things along those lines, which is most of the first year minus a few courses. Second year there are more naturopathic-specific classes that you still need. And, no credit for any clinicals, so that leaves a full 3rd and 4th year. They said 3 years is really the minimum now, though in the past it was shorter (so if you talk to older MD/NDs they may tell you 1-2 years extra to get the ND). They said they are looking into some distance learning/evening type courses, but none offered right now.

NCNM (Portland): 3 years also. It sounded like there might be a little flexibility in testing out though, but when I pushed the question, they said it would still be no less than 3 years extra to get the ND.

I believe both schools had a 5 year track where you could spread classes out a little, but not just evening/weekend. And, as far as I know, no accredited school is offering distance learning or giving credit for distance learning courses.

I have heard the Chicago school might be shorter than 3 extra years, but I don't think they are fully accredited yet (working on it is last I heard). This is heresay though, I don't know anything about the school there.

Let me know if you find out more! Are you already in MD/DO school (or have graduated) or just thinking ahead?
