Dear Edith,
I think that is generally correct. In an N.D.'s line of work we see sensitivies to wheat and carbohydrates.
Fruits are simpler but sweeter, so we tend to recommend vegetables first. It is pretty simple to get an infant to like something sweeter, but more difficult to generate a liking for something more bitter.
From my own experience, I have noticed that the diet introduced in the first few years tends to continue, with the person craving what they have had before.
If you are breastfeeding, then you will continue to be the baby's primary food source. As a culture we are obsessed with getting enough iron into the child in the next few months, hence the focus on "iron enriched." It would be useful to address this issue with your current doctor.
I hope this is helpful.
