can this be due to mirena ?

I have had mirena for 1 year now .for 6 months i had spotting off and on alongwith the normal periods .But after that the spottign settled .now for the last 2 months I have started to have spotting again after the normal periods and my periods have started to get heavy as well .the spotting lasts for a few days and its 1-2 days after the normal menses end .is this normal to have heavy bleeding during menses and to have spotting again after 6 months ?
