CCNM Diploma, not Degree

They still only give out diplomas, but they are regulating Naturopaths and Homeopaths now in Ontario, so they may now call themselves Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine or Dr. as long as they are using the ND title along with it. However, they have been calling themselves Doctor for some time before this when they were not allowed. This regulation caused some anger among other natural health practitioners (Homeopaths, Herbalists, Nutritionists) due to the fact that NDs wanted to have control of all those areas, but Ontario Herbalists who are in the association have to have much more training then the NDs do in Botanical Medicine, same for the Homeopaths, way more training in Homeopathy then the NDs have. Now it all seems to be worked out and I believe we are all happy now on that front.
They are setting the regulations so that no one can call themselves a ND, Naturopath, etc., yet they were calling themselves a Doctor, Dr. so and so when only 5 health care professions were allowed to. They don't want anyone using their title, but they didn't mind doing what the Physicians and Surgeons had said before they were not allowed to do. Sounds like don't do what I am doing, don't use my title, but I am going to use the Doctor title I am not allowed to regardless of what I have been told. Previously, only Physicians and Surgeons, Dentisits, Chiropractors, Optometrists and Psychologists. That is changing now.
I personally think it is silly to have to go to University to get a Bachelor degree and then go to a school that gives out a 4 year diploma that says Doctor. The US gives out degrees and that makes sense.
