class action lawsuit
My OB/GYN recommended Mirena to me after the birth of my son. I had it inserted Oct, 2007 right before my 40th Birthday. Not only did I feel it constantly pinching me, I suffered Extreme mood swings, weight gain, body aches, constant fatigue, paranoia, hot flashes, and, depression severe enough I was contemplating suicide. I was never told mirena released hormones or that there were any side effects. I was suspicious my weight gain might be caused by my birth control (I experiened weight gain on depo provera) so I researed mirena and weight gain on line. What an eye opener! Many women had listed the exact same symptoms I was experiencing. I called the OB/GYN's office that same day and told them if they didn't remove it that day, I would do it myself! I had my Mirena out for 5 months and, while I'm not 100%, I am so much better than I was! I am experiencing symptoms of menopause now (only 40 yrs old!) and I believe the Mirena is responsible for that too! Someone needs to STOP the doctors and the drug makers from manufacturing and using this IUD. Mirena took the joy out of my son's first precious 6 months of life, it almost cost me my marriage, and I believe it would have cost me my life.
