I am trying to get off of this horrible med by weaning myself slowly. So far it has been hellish. I started on the cymbalta 8 months ago. At first it worked great, but after 6 months it stopped working and my depression came back. I saw my doc who upped my dosage to 90 mg. I started feeling bad side effects- dizzyness, vertigo, nightmares, confusion, huge and fast weight gain 50 lbs in 8 months, temporary paralysis and numbness in my left arm I went to ER and was told it was not from the cymbalta but I dont believe that. They never did figure out what caused that but I am positive it was a side effect, short term memory loss, and even some personality changes. I am scared to quit but I want to so badly. I am down to 30 mg now and I feel like I am dying if I forget to take my pill each day. I still plan on cutting my dosage down slowly. I wish I had never taken this drug. I had worked so hard to get in shape and was in the best shape of my life before starting this med, but now I am 50 lbs heavier and keep gaining even though I am dieting. I cant exercise anymore due to the dizziness and vertigo. I am so glad to see that I am not the only one who has had a miserable experience with this drug. It needs to be taken off the market before it hurts more people. Lionheart - - taking apart the capsules works fine, its just a painstaking process to get the dosages right. If you have the patience, it may be best to start counting individual granules right away, as this way you will be sure not to give yourself an uneven dose 10 mg one day, 12 the next, 9 the next. I find you have to set aside a little time to make a batch; I make a week at a time.
