If you are a healthcare professional working with patient blood or in a situation that would be high risk, the Hep B shot is a reasonable consideration. For the average layperson, Hep B is more of a public health service than a personal risk issue. The blood supply has been screened for the virus, and it is unlikely a person would contract Hep B unless they were having aggressive unprotected sex or engaging in sharing needles. That said, Hep B is something the public health departments of the U.S. are trying to wipe out by vaccinating everyone.
I hope this is helpful.
