Life after Mirena

For all of you thinking about having the Mirena removed, I can only say-GO FOR IT! I had alot of the same symptoms listed on this site but I was terrified that if I had it removed everything would get worse. It didn't. The problems I had with Irritibal Bowel Syndrome are gone. My abdomen is not distended like I am pregnant. I noticed right away I was not starving all the time. I don't have headaches and my hip pain has improved. I talked to my GYN when he took it out and he said that the Mirena really messes with your body. He said that there are so many side effects he doesn't recommend it to any of his patients. He said there are so many new ways for contraception you are not stuck with just one. As far as dealing with the out of control female issues, he said the pain and stress you go through being on the Mirena is not worth what little relief you may get. He said to talk to your Dr. about this, if they don't take you seriously or are not willing to listen then change Dr.'s. He said a Dr. worth his oats (I thought that was funny) would take each women's issues seriously as a individual problem. Not a group stigma. Good luck ladies...I am a month out and wish I had done this two years ago when I had it inserted. There is life after Mirena. Thank you to all of you guys for the info you share on this site.
