Re: Mirena and class action lawsuit

I just wanted to share my horrific experience with having the Mirena inserted. First of all no one - including my doctor advised me of all the terrible side effects that went with using this method of birth control. I thought this product was going to be the answer to all my prayers. My husband and I only have one child and are happy with our decision with that. Neither one of us want to have any surgical procedures done since there may be a time where we might change our minds. I have been on the pill since I was 14 in order to regulate my terrible periods and I am so forgetful about taking it everyday that I thought Mirena would be the perfect method for us. Five years without having to worry about a pregnancy or forgetting to take my pill on a regular basis. I had the Mirena inserted about a month ago. The insertion alone was extremely painful but soon after that I started to have serious joint pain in my legs near my hips, back pain so several that I could hardly get out of bed, migraines, blurred vision, daily spotting, facial acne breakouts, cramping, three UTI's and a cyst rupture on my ovary that sent me to the ER. My doctor kept telling me that the Mirena had nothing to do with the UTI's or a cyst bursting but I do not beleive that. Prior to having this IUD inserted I have never had any of these things happen to me. It is all too coincidental for me. I would never, ever recommend this product to anyone. If there is anyone out there that has had sucess with the product then that is great for you but I wish I had known the side effect before I wasted 700 dollars only to go back to my original method of birth control.
