I've had my mirena in less than a week now. As a mum of 3 I have previously had a copper IUD which apart from heavy periods was troublefree. I was seduced by the lesser bleeding with my choice to have a mirena last monday and am now seriously regretting it.
As I write I am in severe pain. I feel like I have a razorblade in my uterus which gets unbearable late afternoon and evening. I am taking painkillers to control the pain but can't take too much due to breastfeeding baby #3 who is 13wks. I can take pain but this is unbearable. It hurt beyond belief going in and I am going to go and demand my doc takes this thing out on Monday.
I don't want to wait for any of these sideeffects, I am moody enough without mirena tipping me over the edge.
Thanks for your honesty ladies. There is something seriously dodgy about this IUD and it needs to be stopped before it ruins more people's lives. Count me in.
I've had 3 homebirths and the pain I am in at the moment is way beyond childbirth.
I'll switch to the copper as soon as I am mentally over the pain this IUD has caused me.
