Re: Mirena and class action lawsuit

We need to get this product off the shelves and let our Docs know about the side effects. (Don't back down--your instincts are accurate!)

After having a Mirena IUD installed 9 months ago, I immediately gained 10-15 lbs of weight and experienced a smelly discharge. You would think that would be enough to have it removed, but I paid $700 bucks for it, so I endured.

But then, I started having hot flashes at night, heart palpitations and sleeping a lot. I thought I was suddenly perimenopausal (I'm 44--never had any signs before IUD insertion.) Watching Oprah last night (who was misdiagnosed with heart problems before she figured out that her thyroid levels were off), I suddenly went--aha--my thyroid is out of whack.

My next thought was--I bet it's connected to Mirena. Let me see what I can find on the Internet... (I love the Internet!)

I also have to return next week for another mammogram to have some 'dense matter' checked on my breasts. (Hope that's OK..I won't be so pleasant about this if it's not.)

I'm getting my IUD removed next week.

Has anyone been consulted about a class action suit to get Mirena off the shelves?
