mirena/discharge and fibroids/hysterectomy

I had Mirena inserted after experiencing heavy periods due to a fibroid. My periods were almost gone for the first 3 months and then started being very irregular, not just spotting, either. I started having this annoying runny discharge that felt like I was almost urinating from my vagina. I have had it now for almost 10 months and I can't stand it anymore. I am changing pads all day long or wearing a tampon due to this discharge!

One year later the fibroid has doubled in size and the string is missing (per ultrasound). I also have incontinence and a prolapsed bladder so the dr. is reccomending a hysterectomy. She says I am past childbearing age (I'm 44) and the bladder is prolapsed so she can fix that at the same time. And the fibroid will just keep growing (do they?) I feel it's like amputating my arm due to tennis elbow!

I can handle the incontinence, even though if I sneeze or cough it is enough to change my clothes and if it's a cold, forget it I am wearing a pad. i can't run or dance even with out peeing. But the discharge is driving me nuts. All cultures are negative. I want to know what it is!

I the discharge normal? What is it from? Will it go on forever? If I don't have a hysterectomy, will the fibroid just keep growing around the mirena? Yuck! It's 10 cm now. Then how will they ever remove it? (the mirena)

Yesterday I had a spontaneous bleed and I went to the bathroom and a bloodied piece of thin string, about 4 cm long was on my panties. Is this the string!!!????

I am just disgusted with my body right now!
