Mirena Issues

I am responding because I just had my Mirena removed yesterday. I just got it in May 2007 and have gained 35 pounds. I have acne on my face AND on my back and have NEVER had acne aside from the occasional pimple on my face. I have HORRIBLE headaches and my joints ache, as well. I was told to "take Advil" for the pain in my joints and headaches. I didn't get the Mirena for birth control, but rather to help very painful periods. I have had a constant period since I got it and, although, the cramping is not nearly what it was before Mirena I think that all the other side effects combined are enough to make me never recommend it. I have also gotten mood swimgs like you wouldn't believe and have found myself very depressed for months. The doctor said that I should give it more time for my body to adjust, but I think that my mood swings are not only affecting me, but now are causing my family pain, too. I snap at them at the drop of a hat and I am just NOT myself. On top of that, I too was told that my weight gain was due to poor eating and exercise habits. Well, I just ran the Marine Corps Marathon in October and started training for that in May by running 3 times a week (miles at a time, not just around the block). I also take an hour step aerobics class twice a week. I don't think that I'm lazy or not health conscience. I think it's something else because I've definately been watching what I eat. And because Mirena is the only thing that has changed in my life in the last year, I took it upon myself to go against the doctor's advice and have my Mirena removed yesterday. Obviously, nothing has changed yet and I'm sitting here with acne all over me, with a splitting headache in pants that are about to squeeze me to death..... but I'll wait and I'll let you know how things go in a couple weeks!!!!!
