I had my mirena for 3 years and I loved it. I did have spotting off and on for 6 months after inserted. Then things were great. Just had mine removed because I want a baby. I just started bleeding 4 days after. The bleeding can be normal because the uterus has a progesterone withdrawl and basically the progesterone trick the uterus into thinking it is pregnant. when it is gone just like after childbirth you can have some bleeding up to 6 weeks. My Dr is great and explained all of this to me at the time of insertion and removal. So i do have some lovely chunking bleeding but, I am not freaked out. Just call your DR if you are soaking through more than 5 pads a day.
