Can I just say first off that I am SOOOO glad to have found this site! It really sucks when you feel like the only person in the world who's having problems w/ this IUD, especially when the doctors tell you it can't POSSIBLY be Mirena causing all of your problems!
Have had Mirena for almost 2 1/2 years now and I hate it. Wasn't even sure I wanted it when I got it (had been talking to my gyno about possibly getting it when I went in for a D&C after a miscarriage but wasn't completely sold on it; the jerk put it in during the exam then told me afterwards he'd done it!), but I digress...in the two years I've had this thing I think I've had almost every single symptom all of you are describing. I've gained 50 pounds in 2 years, despite exercising and eating right. Exhausted all the time but can't sleep for beans. I pretty much have a light period/spotting every week. Cramping, back pain, weird aches and pains, hair growing in strange places (on my friggin' chin!), acne worse than I ever had as a teenager, absolutely NO sex drive. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year but now am wondering, seeing how severely Mirena has affected so many people, if I don't really have FM but instead my symptoms are caused by the IUD. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
Either way, its coming out! I have an appointment on 5/31 to have it removed. My question is, how soon after you had Mirena taken out did it take before your symptoms started going away? Does the weight come off easier?
