I am SO glad I researched this Mirena thing. When I said my periods are really heavy my ObGyn immediately pushed one over for me to look at and insisted it was the best solution, no alternatives. Fortunately she gave me a brochure to look at and I was smart enough to find this (and one or two other forums in German and English - I'm in Switzerland). I am 41, sterilised (after 3 kids), 50 lbs overweight, am already suffering acne, have had bouts of depression and hair loss, as well as breast tenderness before a period - that is BEFORE having Mirena!!!! You can be sure I will be giving my very pleasant lady ObGyn a very big earful... what was she thinking??!!
