MIRENA - YOU MUST READ THIS - Part 2

Two weeks ago, I began to have pregnancy symptoms. I had the nausea, bigger boobs, 1 week late, fullness below, peeing often, and a gut feeling. I went to a clinic, where I was told that I was not pregnant, but that I should have my IUD out. She said that I should have seen someone once my periods reached 20 out of every 30 days. She said I should have seen someone with all of my pain and cramping.

I made an appointment to have the IUD taken out. When getting ready, the doc decided to hold a minute, and double check my pregnancy status. She said I was too tender and that she felt a mass on the left side. She tested me, and I was not pregnant, so she continued. Once pulled, I went into contractions. (Let me just say that you do not want contraction without a baby inside - she compared the pain to a heart-attack, only worse!!) She made me stay in clinic until my husband could pick me up. Next day (yesterday) she had me sent to a different clinic with specialists. I have been diagnosed with salpingitis (basically PID, pelvic inflammatory disease of the fallopian tube). The two doctors agree that I probably should not have had any organs removed. They are convinced that I have probably had this since the insertion of the MIRENA. The heavy bleeding could be from infection, or just sensitivity to the hormone that we are made to believe won't affect us.

Please, PLEASE, women, if you have any symptoms, at all, of PID, go to the doc and ask them to do a THOROUGH exam. I say this because it slipped past many doctors, specialists, for two years in my case. Do not live with the pain. Do not believe what you read about MIRENA not being able to cause PID. It happens. It has happened to many, many women.
