Never had a problem with mirena til now

It has be a great 4 years 3 months. Sure I put on about 50 pounds, but I didn't relize it could be from the IUD.
Anyway, saw my gyn today for my annual & the IUD doesn't have a string. So I need a D&C to get it out.
Are there anyother options?
