I'll take a stab at this...Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as I know, OMDs aren't licensed in even as many states as NDs. However, I think many people get an LAc with the degree as well, which is fairly recognized, and so they can practice acupuncture in a number of places. While practicing acupuncture, they can probably do Chinese herbs and other Oriental medicine treatments, depending on the state's specific regulations. My state has something specific about how Chinese medicines are not within the scope of practice of acupuncturists.
