it IS possible to be successful I guess but I certainly raise an eyebrow to one ND in particular who practices in an unlicensed state.
*she* spoke at a forum a while back (b/c she's *successful*)and decided to share the fact that *she* has not taken anyone's blood pressure nor has *she* actually physically examined a patient in over 6 years! (and *she* said this with such aplomb)
Because *she* works in a unlicensed state, *she* works as a consultant, communicating with patients over the phone and prescribing supplements for their ailments
And *she* added that *she* was informed that her practice and earnings puts her in the top 1% in earnings of all health care practitioners (that includes, MDs, DOs) for a family practice.
I had the *pleasure* of speaking with this person who immediately launched into a wallet biopsy (asking what I did for a living) and preceded to tell me as *she* handed me her card " If you ever win the lottery or something, call me some time and maybe I can help you..."
It's a shame people like this are considered *successful nds*
Seems pretty sketchy to me!
