Preceptorships are short experiences (about 40hrs) in which students can work with a variety of health practitioners outside of the school clinic setting.
In my class, interested students weren't very successful at getting precepterships in hospitals. For the few that did, these experiences were strictly observation rather than hands on.
My understanding is that SCNM and U Bridgeport have done somewhat better in building relationships with hospitals. But, please talk to students from these schools to confirm this.
If you're very interested in getting hospital experiences, here are my suggestions.
1) Become an EMT and work as a tech in a local ER during your naturopath studies. (A strategy that some of us used.)
2) In addition to your ND, study to become a physian's assistant or advanced practice nurse.
