gassiness with ALL solids

HELP! my 10 month old son reacts to ALL solids by becoming gassy and uncomfortable. he wakes every hour at night, and doesn't have a bowel movement for DAYS. because he responded like this no matter what we fed him, i stopped solids and have been nursing exclusively until now. but the poor guy wants to eat! when he is on solids, his poop is like toothpaste -- other than that it looks like constipation in every way. another weird thing -- when he is ONLY NURSING his stools are watery -- no form at all. have you ever heard of this?
