Non-GMO ascorbic acid

What are ND students taught about the non-GMO sources of ascorbic acid that is being sold as vitamin C? Archer Daniels Midland provides nearly all the ascorbic acid to supplement makers, and this is from non-GMO corn. Additionally, ascorbic acid is only one part of vitamin C? How does an ND school bridge the gap between what they teach about nutrition and subscribing what basically is junk?
