I am a bit disconcerted right now, because I see allopathic medicine including evidence-based 'naturopathic' or diet-based practices into their treatment regiments (including omega 3s, certain herbs, hi/low protein diets etc)... however, I don't see naturopathic medicine as having the scope to include allopathic treatment protocols into their scope. Obviously, I'm not opposed to allopathic physicians including holistic therapies (if it is good for the patient)... I am just thinking that MDs will just have the benefit, as always.
Furthermore, I am a bit unsure of going into ND school myself because I don't know what I really think about certain modalities. For instance, let's take homeopathy, one modality that is taught. I went to the NIH database and typed in homeopathy, and searched through abstracts. Most all abstacts showed little to no impact of homeopathic treatments. I don't want to study modalities that are not evidence-based. This scared me.
Any thoughts?? Thanks!
