Re: Future for accredited online schools

No, none of the 6 accredited Naturopathic Medical (ND) schools offer distance learning programs. (Schools like Australasian are accredited for distance learning; not to be mistaken for colleges which are accredited specifically for their ND degree program -- a requirement in order to obtain ND licensure upon graduation.)

There are 6 such accredited schools in North America:
Bastyr University
Boucher Institute of N.M.
Canadian College of N.M.
National College of N.M.
Southwest College of N.M.
Univ. of Bridgeport, School of N.M.

These 6 schools are accredited by these 3 key organizations:
1. U.S. Dept. of Education (ED)
2. Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME)
3. North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE)

The reason you won't find any of these schools offering distance learning courses is based on the belief that becoming a naturopathic physician is not something that can adequately be accomplished through an online or correspondence course. It is a major undertaking requiring years of academic preparation and hands-on clinical experience.

For more background on this topic, you can read up on it here:

I f you'd like to meet directly with some ND admissions advisors and alumni from these accredited schools, consider visiting one of the Naturopathic Medical Educational Forums in various U.S. cities, found here:
