anything positive about Mirena

I keep reading all these bad things about Mirena. I had mine put in after my second child about 6 months ago. I used to have severe cramping, heavy bleeding every month, since I was 16. Up until I got pregnant the second time, I always had really heavy, painful cycles. I got Mirena inserted a day after my period ended, and since then, I haven't had a painful cycle. I had spotting for the first 2 months after insertion, but this is very normal. I haven't gained weight (still 5'7" and 125lbs). My periods have shortend to 2 days long (as opposed to 7 painful days). I haven't had any side effects that I've noticed. My sex drive is the same; haven't had mood swings (Mirena actually helps with PMS symptoms). So, what I'm trying to say is, every body is different. It could work for you, it could be something that you choose to discontinue. I will say this...it takes your body a while to adjust to this foreign object inside of you. So, until after about the 5th or 6th month mark (depending on your body), you wont really know if it's something that you still want or not. Your body needs that time to adjust, and balance itself out...if that makes sense. So, not all results are bad. And you didn't neccessarily make the wrong choice. So, I hope this helps you out. Don't despair. If you end up not liking it, you can always have it removed. That's the beauty of it. It's whatever works for you! Mirena works for me!
