I had my mirena removed today after 4 years. I too gained about 35llbs. I gained 25 in the last six months. Swollen ankles due to water retention and absence of periods. Terrible moood swings and bad depression. The doctor that removed it insisted it wasn't the Mirena. I had a serious emotional meltdown with tears and all in the doctor's office day because I became so confused. I had it removed. I am giving it about 3-6 months before I decide to go with something different. My husband and I will try something else in the meantime. I am currently 5'1 184.8 llbs. [150 llbs when inserted] I had swollen ankles (even today) Mood swings, terrible depression, anxiety, anger. All kinds of stuff.
