Hi, I'm 40 and thought I was suffering from the dreaded middle age spread! I had the Mirena inserted Jan 06, change in circumstances ment I needed to start using contraception again. I took the pill when I was younger and had gained weight with it so was not keen to start it again. Afriend suggested the mirena and as the hormones were released locally thought it would be fine!! I am 5' 6" and for the last 14 years have been the same weight that was until last Febuary since then I have gained 16 lbs!! Rejoined Weight watchers and for the last 3 weeks have lost 4lb and gained 3lb!! I have wondered if it was connected to the mirena but until today I could not find anything other than good reports..now I am shocked at the amount of people in the same boat! confused.com......is it middle age or Hormone related???????????
