Brights Diease

Brights Disease isn't really used anymore. What she had was a kidney disease, a type of nephritis. The most common type appears to be induced by systemic lupus, an autoimmune disease that is more common in women that in men. Another possibility is autoimmune IgA nephritis, which can be linked genetically but doesn't show up as dominant very often. There are family patterns of nephritis, but it does appear to have environmental factors as well. It would be worth discussing the history with a local kidney doctor (nephrologist) to make sure you aren't at an increased risk for getting it.

I hope this is helpful.
