I too went to have my IUD removed and the strings were not there. I had to had a hysteroscopy (not a hysterectomy) in order to get it out, which is when they take a scope to go up there and find out where it is and they they pull it out. It is an operation that has to be done in the OR. I had mine on Thursday so I am 4 days post removal. Lots of pain (cramping afterwards). I am hoping the 50lbs I gained with this stupid thing will come off pretty quickly.
