I don't know if you were joking about the toothache or not, but I have read posts of women who had chronic tooth pain with Mirena. Who knows?!
I got my Mirena after my second daughter and I absolutely loved it for the first two years. No side effects and no period - it was great! But about 6 months ago it was like someone flipped a switch and I started to have a lot of health problems: weight gain, hair loss, joint pain, back pain, complete loss of sex drive, sore breasts and irritability. My doctors couldn't find anything wrong with me after lots of tests. Then I googled Mirena and weight gain and found lots of women with similar symptoms and decided to have it removed. It's been out almost a month and most of my symptoms are gone or improving and the weight is slowly coming off.
When friends ask about getting the Mirena, I tell them to do their research and be aware of the possible side effects. I know many women have no side effects and enjoy Mirena as reliable birth control, but I think everyone should be aware of what could happen so they can get it pulled before suffering for years without knowing why.
I have read about quite a few women who didn't have the side effects until years after having Mirena inserted...
