Oh my yes!

Antibiotics aren't terribly useful for ear infections because the majority of infections are caused by viruses.

For nursing mothers, eating garlic will get it into the child. Garlic (fresh) has both antibiotic and antiviral properties and is helpful because it travels throughout the body quickly. It also makes you reek of garlic and many children do not like it. Garlic oil drops were judged as effective as anesthetic ear drops for pain relief, but we don't have any studies on decreasing incidence.

A range of other household spices are both antiviral and antibacterial. Even drinking a warm tea will bring some contact as the inner ear canal empties behind the tonsils. The old doctors used to pop open the flap to help the ears drain, but few are trained in that technique anymore.

The two standbys homeopathically are belladonna for the right ear and mercurius for the left. Both should be taken in a 12x or greater because of possible toxicity from the lower doses.

I hope this is helpful. It is for informational purposes only, and does not in any way alleviate your need to have a local doctor that can advise you.
