can you write and be an ND?

I am pretty sure that I want to go to ND school. I definitely want the education.

However, I know that I want to come up with new theories based on my education and clinical experience, and to WRITE - articles, books, the works.

Is it ok to want to be a writer ultimately, like Mark Hyman or Mercola or Dr. Weil?

I can't tell whether I'd be thrilled by treating patients (I do like helping people with their health issues) or bored if I'm not able to theorize/write enough while practicing as a doctor.

On the other hand, I am not optimistic about my ability to write at the level that I want to, without the education and clinical experience of being a doctor. Non MD or ND health writers usually write about others' ideas instead of coming up with their own, and they have to support themselves through supplement sales or something.

Oh, and I don't want to be a researcher, since I like thinking about the whole system and not just a small question, and I detest bench research and like to move at a faster pace.
