I had the mirena for 4years and loved it or so I thought. I was not aware of the problems that it was causing me, just thought that it was life in general. In january 2009 I had it removed cause my stomach was hurting a few days out of the month so I figured that it wasnt working as well due to it being in htere for so long. I went to the doctor and found that the pain that I was experiencing was indeed ovarian cysts, so I decided that he take it out that day. Within 3 days my face cleared up, I had a sex drive for the first time in 5 years, just thought that 3 kids would do that to ya. Had surgery last month to remove the large cysts from both ovaries, and also let me point out and this could be totally co-inkey dinkey but I had spent several thousand dollars at a cardiologist because of heart palp's and they have pretty muched stopped after mirena, could be from the mirena I dont know. This is my story. No weight gain, mood swings, depression, NO sexual libido, heart palps, awful acne on face and back the whole time, but other than that I loved it. Didnt have a period for 4 years, but let me tell ya what, the first one after was like I was bleeding to death. I would not get another one, nor go on any BC for that matter because of the mood swings, and ovarian cysts that most cause.
