Okay, I am new to this site, but I am hoping for a bit of insite into possible alternatives to coumadin therapy. My fiance is a heart patient and has undergone several open heart surgeries, her cardiologist seems comfortable with her on coumadin for the rest of her life, but I don't agree. It is impossible to eat right on coumadin because all kinds of things (like most green veggies, all the healthiest oils) interact adversely with it. How can you maintain a heart-healthy diet when the medication precludes eating most of the healthiest foods? I would appreciate any ideas to where to focus my efforts...
