Paraguard/hemoraging

I had the Paraguard put in on the 9/4/07 and it is now 9/28/07. I have been cramping and bleeding heavily, continuosly since then. I went to my doctor, but he was not in the office today so I spoke with his nurse. She said that there are chances I could be hemorraging, but she did not know for sure. Does anyone know if this much bleeding is a normal side effect? Has anyone else had the same problem?
