Postpartum Mirena removal

I had Mirena for exactly 1 week after having it inserted 9 weeks post-partum. I was feeling pain and spotting after having it inserted and decided that worrying about the hormones while breastfeeding was driving me a little crazy (even though they say it's okay). So I had it removed yesterday and now I'm having what feels and looks like a regular period when I was expecting not to have a period for several months as I'm breastfeeding. Does anyone else have any experience with this and does this mean my normal periods are returning?
