Dear Christy,
After looking at the research in this area, I find it strangely lacking except for the bizarre area of whether or not an infant should undergo an endoscopic procedure. The answer seems to be, thankfully, probably not.
I am assuming at this point that you have exhausted the old standbys: chamomile tea, chamomile homeopathic (usually in teething tablets), tiny amounts of peppermint (dilates the sphincters, both upper and lower), spacing feedings, slowing feedings, decreasing feeding size, adjusting the "lock" on the breast to minimize swallowing air, etc.
If the acidophilus has not been helping, it may actually be aggravating the problem. If the child is at all sensitive to milk or not able to fully digest milk sugars, the acidophilus may be fermenting the sugars in her lower bowel and increasing gas.
My understanding is that reflux involves the need to burp up gas which is done poorly, bringing food with it. At this point a renegotiation of the whole feeding routine is in order. Consult your local doctor for possible allergies, etc.
I hope this is helpful.
