Removal questions...

I have had mirena in for roughly half a year and have experienced a wide range of negative side-effects. Some, like the lower back/abdominal pain have gone away over time. Others, like the dramatic weight gain (despite a consistent diet and exercise regime) and serious facial acne (I had no breakouts before) as well having a period/spotting for about half the month, are becoming worse over time. I have made the decision to get it out. Could any of you tell me if this procedure can be done at a regular OBGYN office, or is outpatient surgery necessary? What may I expect in the time following the removal? Thanks! I wish I had been better and more truthfully informed so I never would have had to go through this in the first place...
