Reading the previous post on whether happy users of the mirena would not complain!! Well I was a happy user, I had a complaint with my ankles and thought just maybe it could be a side effect of the mirena. The mirena had done the job, acted as a good contraceptive and sorted out my periods, I didn't think there was anything wrong. It wasn't until I stumbled across this site that I realised that I had all the symtoms of pregnancy - morning sickness, excess weight gain and joint pain etc etc etc. I would never of dreamt this was due to the mirena. I had the mirena for 2 years and had in removed in May. Best thing I did!! The only problem I have now, is the weight, and I have been told it could be 2years before I start to see a change, or that my hormones start to rebalance, what a s**t. It's not for the lack of trying, as I do not over eat, I have a balanced diet and exercise, but no weight loss yet, but no gain either. Will continue to push on and keep you updated. I was a happy user and would not hesitate now to deter anyone never to have the beast inserted. The docters most certainly are in denial as to the true symtoms of the mirena. I really think over the last 10 years we have been their guinea pigs!! Mirena users do not know, because as far as medical advice is concerned, we are paranoid and they have no problem in prescribing this artificial foreign body.
