sugar causing a bad taste in my mouth

I was diagnosed as a hypoglycemic about 15 years ago. I have noticed for several years that if and when I eat anything that contains high sugar content (or bread.) I get this terrible taste in mouth. The only thing that will help take it out is to brush my teeth and tongue. Any suggestions?
