The negative

Unfortunately, there isn't a huge upside to naturopathic school right now.

Many of the naturopathic schools are on shaky financial grounds. The proverbial sh*t is about to hit the fan with the naturopathic schools. These naturopathic schools have been taking on a record number of students.

There hasn't really been a rise in the number of jobs, and there are still only a few states where naturopaths can legally pratice.

All of these recent graduates are going to hit an epidemic crisis paying their loans off unless they have another career or a wealthy family member to help them.

I don't want to give you the doom and gloom because I love natural medicine. However, if want to stake your whole financial future into a career with very few jobs, huge loans, little public support, and a high risk for failure/loan default then go for it.

Even my friends who graduated and had enough money to start a practice are still struggling to get by right now. There is just too much competition from other careers, free advice givers, local herb women, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and other unlicensed health care providers (there are TONS of health coaches, MLM 'nutritionists', spiritual healers, Reiki practicioners, and more who utilize natural medicine for little to no financial profit). Justifying the costs it takes to run a business versus the free advice that so many people give is a difficult proposition.

I LOVE natural medicine, but you have to look at the economics.
