Think you're crazy?

I would like to let everybody who thinks they are crazy, or who's doctor says they are crazy, trust your instincts when it comes to drugs. Nobody knows your body like you do. I just recently had the Mirena removed because of adverse side effects. My doctor and others told me there was no way I could be experiencing the side effects due to Mirena. I had a quite similar arguement with my GI doctor a year ago. In Dec. 03 I was diagnosed with IBS. I was prescribed Zelnorm, brand new on the market. It worked great for a year. In April of 05 I went to my GI and told him I didn't feel it was working, and that my stomach was even more bloated than before. He doubled my dose. This worked for about a year. In April of 06 I went back to my doctor and told him I was getting incredible pains in my ribs. I told him I was afraid the drug may not be as safe as they had thought because it was new on the market. He told me I was wrong, that "it was as safe as a sugar pill". I was always uneasy, because back in 03 he put me on the Zelnorm and never checked back with me. I had to make appointments to see him. After my last appoinment in 06, I was still not assured of the safety, so I started researching it a little more. I found that it can cause a part of you colon to die from lack of oxygen and blood. When I told my GI this, he told me I was a hypochondriac, which I still don't understand that, because I was worried about the effects of the drug. Well, to get to the point, I just received a letter from my Dr. a year after I stopped taking the Zelnorm telling me the FDA is suggesting people stop taking Zelnorm as it is causing heart attacks, angina, and stroke. So the next time your doctor tells you you're crazy, it is just because they are uninformed about side effects.
