thinning skin

Dear Pattecakke,

Thinning of the skin can be caused by high cortisol (stress or drug) levels, but the easy bruising raises a possible flag of low platelets and possible anemia, which might be lowering the oxygen levels available to your skin. It would be worthwhile to talk to a local doctor about this and at least get a blood check for low platelets as that can lead to extensive bleeding.

Once you know your diagnosis, a number of herbs are helpful with anemia (think dark greens) and severa l of the adaptogen herbs (ashwaghanda, ginseng, etc.) may be helpful with platelet levels. But neither takes the place of medication, particularly if your levels are very low.

I hope this is helpful.
