weight gain and mirena

I've gained 23 lbs. since getting my mirena inserted! I cannot lose it! My stomach was completely flat after giving birth, thanks to an abdominal binder for c-sections. Now, my students are constantly asking me if I am pregnant. I do look pregnant and literally cannot fit into any of my clothes. My doctor says there is no research showing a link, but I am going to insist on having it removed. I have also had huge gushes of blood twice. All of my friends swear by the Mirena, but I guess it just varies with each person. I also have pains in my leg every month. I went to the doctor and she could not find anything wrong.
