weight gain with mirena

i have had the mirena coil since march this year have put on a stone and a half needed the coil for very bad periods but feeling crap since can anyone advise. i am reluctant to have it removed in ways as it was a stay in hospital to have it inserted as i have no children plus it cost me!!! just feel so unhappy dispite eating much less and in the gym most days have not moved a pound!! i'm depressed
