when do periods start

Well I did it last Monday had the mirena inserted.....VERY SORE!! may I add, bled a lot on insertion, but following day it had cleared up. Only feeling slight twinges, myself or husband hasnt felt any, strings etc. When do periods start and should I expect spotting throughout the month.
