Hi, my son has had excema since about age 1. It started about 6 weeks after I stopped breast feeding him and he was put on a cow\\\'s milk formula. I struggled with endless Doctors, creams, medicines, nothing ever really helped. He would scratch constantly, day and night, get skin infections... you all know the story. He got sicker and sicker through the years, I researched excema and allergies about 15 hours a week. I tried so many things to help get my son back, he was so pale with dark circles, split toes and fingers, body rashes, red ears. Today Joey is 8 years old and has been healthy and happy, sleeping through the nights, getting good grades for the last 8 months, he still gets occasional minor rahes, but nothing like what he went through before. The first thing I did was take him off all the antihistimes, they were making him very tired and whinny. I took him off all the medicines. I took him off cow\\\'s milk and now use goat milk and goat butter. He is on a gluten free diet, plus no corn or oats, some of his allergies. I follow a very strict diet according to his allergies. I bath him in the morning and night for only 8 minutes and cover him with eucerin creme. Be very careful not to use any cream with alcohol in it, it will dry the skin futher. Most important is OMEGA 3 FATTY ACid. I give my son either primrose oil or cod liver oil. This omega 3 fatty acid is lacking in people with excema. It is like fixing your skin before the skin comes out, fixing your skin from the inside out!! My son\\\'s health was also complicated by a very bad yeast infection though out his body, a lot of the exema was not really excema but yeast rashes. My son is also allergic to yeast so his reaction was systemic. The yeast infection went undiagnosed for almost a year by countless specialist Doctors!! Everytime he was put on antibiotics for skin infections, the infection would clear, but the yeast would grow stronger, he was so sick. I\\\'m still so mad at these Doctors for not diagnosing the yeast !! His GI tract was so inflamed,he was not absorbing nutrients properly. (the GI tract is a big percentage of your immune system) Joey was finally put on Nystatin for 2 months and soon I had my healthy son back. It was such a terrible experience to go through. My advise: 1. find out your allergies and follow a strict diet 2. DO not drink Cow\\\'s milk 3. Take an Omega 3 Fatty acid(Primrose or codliver oil) 4.Check for yeast in your body!! It causes rashes just like excema and often coexists with excema(many Doctors refuse to believe in a yeast infection, you might have to find a good holistic Doctor) 5. take probiotics-good bacteria daily. My son is now happy, not whinny. His coloring went from a pasty white to a healthy peach color. He sleeps well, and is a top student. He just got into the enrichment program at school for mathematics!!He is testing 2-3 years ahead of his age. I think about how lost he was in illness these last years, but now I get to look at his big grinning face. It was a long fight from age 1 to age 7, to find his health. I really wish Doctors were more helpful, but they just want to sell you drugs and cremes that don\\\'t work. They see you for 10 minutes and write a script while our kids get sicker. I know I sound mad, I am, I watched my son get so sick that I didn\\\'t think he would grow up, and I felt so helpless until I took action myself. I hope this helps someone. God Bless
