Protein in your urine means exactly that. Your kidneys, which act as a filter to keep protein in the body, are allowing some protein to slip through.

The meaning of the protein should be explained by the doctor who told you that you had protein spilling out. There are a number of possible causes, from strenuous exercise to infection or chronic kidney disease. Please ask your doctor to explain the protein to you within the context of your other symptoms.
